How to Install WordPress on HostGridPro™ Hosting

1 Log In to HestiaCP

Go to your HestiaCP control panel at https://yourdomain.co.za:8083. Log in with your hosting credentials from your welcome email.

2 Add Your Domain

Click Web in the top nav. If your domain is not listed yet, click Add Web Domain and enter your domain name. Tick SSL Certificate (Let's Encrypt) to get a free padlock while you are there.

3 Create a Database

WordPress needs a database. Click DB in the top nav → Add Database. Fill in:

• Database name: e.g., wp_mybusiness
• Username: e.g., wp_user
• Password: Use a strong password and note it down

Click Add. Your database is ready.

4 Install WordPress Files

The easiest way is to ask HostGridPro™ to do it for you. WhatsApp us your domain name and we will install WordPress in under 5 minutes, for free, on any plan.

To do it yourself: Use the File Manager in HestiaCP for your domain or connect via FTP. Navigate to public_html. Download WordPress from wordpress.org, extract the zip, and upload all files into public_html.

5 Run the WordPress Installer

Visit your domain in a browser. The installer will start automatically. Follow the 5 steps:

1. Choose your language
2. Enter your database name, username and password from Step 3
3. Set Database host to localhost
4. Set your site title, admin username and password
5. Click Install WordPress

Done. Your WordPress site is live. Log in at yourdomain.co.za/wp-admin.

6 Add WooCommerce for Online Stores

In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New. Search for WooCommerce. Install and activate it. Follow the setup wizard to configure ZAR currency, PayFast or Paystack payment, and SA shipping.

7 Migrate an Existing WordPress Site

If your WordPress site is currently on another host, we offer free migrations on all HostGridPro™ plans. WhatsApp us your old host login details and we will move everything over with zero downtime.

Want to do it yourself? Install the All-in-One WP Migration plugin, export your site as a .wpress file, then import it on the new hosting. For large sites over 500MB, contact us first.

8 Change PHP Version

WordPress runs best on PHP 8.2 or 8.3. In HestiaCP, go to Web → Edit your domain → scroll to PHP Version and select 8.2 or 8.3. Click Save.
